We can be buried or planted…

,

It’s our choice.  Life has a way of piling itself up on us, bills due, kids, marriage, school, business ventures all require more attention as time goes by.   More time, more of us and we can feel like we are being buried under To Do’s, buried under other people’s needs and wants, buried under things we ourselves even prayed to have or do.  Buried to the point of saying “My goodness I can’t even breath anymore!”

That’s the moment where we decide if we are being buried or planted.  Buried things have died, buried things don’t move, buried things are no good to anyone above ground. Buried things are just that buried.  Planted things grow, they break open, they take on a new shape, they absorb nutrients and what is needed from within the darkness it was planted in until it breaks ground and becomes what it was always meant to be.  We don’t always have a choice as to what gets put on us but we do have a choice of whether or not we let it bury us or we allow ourselves to grow from it.  Please don’t get me wrong, I would be lying if I didn’t say that I have moments…or better yet days where I am like “just leave me here buried! I don’t want to move or grow or do anything!” and then the self-induced tantrum subsides and the real me {the rested me} remembers that I have been planted and I can grow from this, I can learn from this.  You see an apple tree starts off as a seed never fully knowing its capacity until it has gone through the darkness of feeling buried to understanding it was planted and breaking ground and weathering all seasons until it is fully grown and providing shade for some and nutrients for many.

The next time you are feeling buried take a step back {even if it has to be after your personal tantrum} and then say these words “Lord let me be planted and not buried in this process.  Allow me to absorb all the nutrients that are around me that will help me grow and break ground so that I can be what you have purposed me to be”. And remember, we can be buried or planted it is our choice.

Merita’s Heart

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Ps.For those of you who feel buried and that there is not hope or no way of getting out. There is someone who is an expert at excavating hidden treasures His name is Jesus, if you haven’t already take a moment and just quietly pray to the one that can excavate and bring back to life even that which was buried and have it be planted so that it grows.  May you find life and purpose in the most darkest of moments.
