Never be thirsty again…

,

When we draw water from a well that we ourselves are responsible for filling there will always come a time when it will run out. The well will get dry or worse even those around that don’t understand you or like you can start throwing stones in your well until the little bit of water that is left becomes stagnant. When the Samaritan woman went to the well she was met by a man who asked her for water; her response “why do you ask ME for water?!” She knew her life, her past, what people were saying about her, did he not know who she was? He knew, He knew who she was, He knew her past so much so that when she says “oh if you knew who I was you wouldn’t be asking me for water” his response “if you knew who I was you would be begging me for water”. Not only did he present her with living water, he put her life right out in front of her. He did not say oh don’t think about your sin or what you did, that is not how God works, he exposed it, but notice this was not done in front of others for them to know and mock her but in private just them two he tells her he knows her life. Not to condemn her but to present to her salvation and forgiveness of her sins. You see we can’t continue to live like we are okay when we know deep down inside we aren’t. We can’t live like the sin we have carried has not changed us, or how we do things when we know it has. Why else would she be fetching water in the middle of the day when the freshest coolest water is early in the morning hours? Because her life choices made her change how she sustained it. No one would normally choose to drink dirty water, it causes illness and can lead to death. In the same way you would not drink filthy water for fear of dying you should not rely on your own strength and memory to fill the well that sustains your life.

We can only physically do so much to sustain our everyday lives, this is where our coming to the well which is Christ Jesus, where we are met with the truth of who we are and what we have done but we leave with a fresh refill in our hearts and souls because His truth and love is more than enough. Living water versus stagnant water sounds like an easy choice right? Only if we are willing to be met by truth and forgiveness do we get to leave with the fresh water our souls are truly looking for.

John 4:7-27 Story of the Samaritan Woman

Ps.  If you are standing at the well of your life and you need water, say this prayer with me “Lord God almighty I come to you through my acceptance of Jesus Christ asking you to fill the well that is my life, to provide me with the water that my soul thirst for.  My life is before you, forgive me, heal me and show me the complete woman/man that I am meant to be and not what my life and past has screamed that I am.  I accept your love and forgiveness and I  move forward knowing you have all that I need and I will be all that you have created me to be. Amen”
