Have you ever had a moment were you felt like peace was slipping away? When you said “wait what just happened? I was okay why is this going on now?” Where you asked yourself is this it? Is this what I have to deal with now? And we wonder how can we get peace back. You see peace is not something we can produce. Peace is something that comes in the still of the night, in the early morning hours, in the middle of our work day.
Peace is not something that we can grasp it is something we experience.
It can either slowly roll in like the evening fog covering up what was so clearly devastating us. It can beautifully sprinkle and blanket us like the first snowfall blankets and covers the dry cold ground. It can fall like the rain that is so desperately needed after many days of unbearable heat. Peace is something that can take over any situation, not by whisking us away, but actually filling us in the midst of our current situation.
I thank God for His peace that has rolled in when my eyes had deceived me into believing that this road was the only one I could take and redirected me to pause go slower and just be. I thank God for the peace that blanketed me when I was dry and cold wondering could anything beautiful show up in this cold dry place. I thank God for the peace that fell down on me like rain filling the unquenchable thirst of my heart and soul. Where can you find this peace I’m talking about? Jesus.
In John 17 vs. 27 Jesus says; Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
This world is not capable enough to give us the peace we need. God has given to us, through His son Jesus a peace that goes beyond comprehension. A peace that can quiet the most restless of souls. I encourage you to invite that Peace into your life and let it blanket your weary soul.
Merita’s Heart ❤
Ps. If you have never invited Jesus into your heart and would like to, say this prayer with me. Lord God almighty I come before you knowing full well that this world can’t give me the peace I need. Come into my heart heal me give me peace. I receive your Son Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I open my heart to all you have to give, Amen.
