Fill your cup…

mycuprunnethover

Before my feet touched the ground I had multiple texts and emails.  Things that needed to be corrected, planned out, fixed.  Two calls to answer before I could even brush my teeth {I know gross}.  Before my first cup of coffee things needed resolution.  I took a deep breath, said Lord help me.  I answered the emails, set a plan in place, notified those that needed the info and calmed the stressed person down.  Then I served myself a cup of coffee and sat at my work desk.  I saw my reflection in the monitor my cup says “Fill Your Cup” I sat back in my chair and I feel the “nudge”.  That is what I call it when the Holy Spirit wants to remind me of something or speak to my heart.  I remember the words “my cup runneth over” and I stop what I am doing and go to Psalms 23.

Some of you may know this by memory but today, each line, each verse spoke to my hurried, overflowed and depleted heart.

  • Our need will never over run His provision.
  • Our walk will not fail with His direction.
  • The darkness and sorrow that tries to surround us can’t overcome the comfort He gives.
  • The battles that we face will end in a feast of victory that He sets up for us.
  • He provides the back up we need all because of His goodness and mercy.

I was reminded that before the world starts asking and requesting and drinking from the cup of our lives we need to go to Him and get refilled.  We can’t blame someone else for our depletion if we ourselves have become empty and still knowing this, continue to give and pour out of our emptiness without being refilled.  We get refilled through God’s word, through time in prayer.  Through simply stopping and saying Lord Fill My cup.

Today I urge you {and myself} fill your cup, fill it to the rim! So that you can pour out and when you look and see that it is empty, go back and fill it up again! Don’t run on empty, don’t sit there trying to give out droplets when you know full well that when your cup is overflowing you give your very best.  I pray for cups full of peace, comfort, joy, direction and yes COFFEE!

Merita’s Heart

Ps. Take a moment today to read Psalms 23 and go over each line and pray over all the ares of your life that you know need God’s direction, His peace, His comfort and then get up and move forward knowing the His goodness and His mercy are following you.
