It seems like the older I get the more I want to use my time correctly. Oh I like to be a free spirit every now and then but scheduling has been something that has gotten more fierce the older I get. Add 2 kids, a full time job, ministry not to mention trying to schedule happily ever after time with the hubby, and you have a full to do list. It’s a miracle I can keep it together and look cute, or at least try.
We are all so busy hustling hard, living the modern day boss life we forget that today is done in 24 hours. Yesterday is now a part of my memory {if I’m not too tired, if so then I know it existed but don’t ask me for details} and tomorrow will only have 24 hours to live. So what is a modern day person to do? How do we live out our best lives? We must count them. We must ask ourselves the serious questions. At the risk of sounding gruesome or depressing, let’s be real now, let’s stop lying to ourselves even if for a moment {although better if we stopped lying all together, but that is a post for another day}.
If I died tomorrow did I live out today that way I would have wanted, had I known it was my last? Did I love the people that loved me? Did I embrace them and live out that moment with them? Did I speak life to others so that when I go they can remember the impact I made to their lives?
Psalms 90:12 tells us to ask the Lord to“Teach us to number our days, so that we may gain a heart of wisdom”
When we realize that yesterday is done, today is almost gone and tomorrow is not promised what we value changes. What was once something that consumed our thoughts and time now becomes less important. We focus with a wise heart on what is necessary and what is truly important. The more we do this the better our decisions become. The better our choices become the more value we have added to our days. The more value we have added the better the life we are and have lived.
If like me you have ever gotten on that boss mentality, hustling is life, busy is productive bus. I urge you to stop! Get off! Reassess what is of real value, count your days and then get off that busyness bus! And live your life to the fullest with wisdom and satisfaction that you are living it the best way possible.
Merita’s Heart
