Ever have one of those days where your mind is so full of thoughts and to do’s that you have no idea what you are doing? Not that you don’t know WHAT you WANT to do, that is clear. It’s the loose words that grow like little seeds dropped in a fertile thinking mind that start growing like weeds until it starts to suffocate what we should really be thinking about and what we should really be focused on. Throw in a bout of hormones (if you’re a woman) and it can become just a messed up thinking type of day, where you are one last random thought away from a meltdown. So many times we allow little things to start creeping into our mind and take up space to the point that they start pushing out or suffocating the things that should be in there. I have those moments, I go through those days.
Rarely does a “God is in control, He has ordered my steps” type of woman like to admit that they have those days but I do.
Those are the days where I must be sure to take extra time out to read the word and to quietly pray or just listen to God and not the screaming words and to do’s. Those are the days that I stop and reassess what I am thinking of and pray.
I visualize myself walking into my mind with a weed whacker {I know dramatic but whatever that’s me} and start taking out the thoughts that are taking up space for the real things that matter.
I then read and pray this verse out loud.
2 Corinthians 10:5
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
So the next time you have one of those “my brain is full” days remember me and the weed whacker and join me in reading this verse and asking God to take down and out every thought that is not of Him and everything that is taking up space in our minds that does not allow for the right and proper things to grow and flourish and come to fruition.May your mental garden be beautiful and the weeds under control!
